Pat Lok Update
A quick happy birthday to our buddy Pat Lok, who's had his excellent "Could be Mine" featuring Patrick Baker remixed by Red Milk, Chores and Wantigga (the latter two are free downloads). Great stuff all around, but I gotta say that the Chores remix is the fave.
[24h Exclusive download] Ayoe Angelica remixed
We've been super lazy recently, but I can calm everyone down: the rumours about our deaths are greately exaggerated. On the contrary, we're working on some big things that may or may not include a range of Tracasseur speedos for men.
But as a gift for not giving up on us, we're giving away a couple of very nice remixes of Danish soul/R'n'B singer Ayoe Angelica, in collaboration with local Stockholm label Playground Music. The remixers are local talent too; Robin Marken has made a funky, cut-up disco version while Thunberg's remix is more of a soulful deephouse/nu disco version. Very nice stuff from people and a label that are worth keeping an eye on.
Both tracks are available for free download for 24 hours (from around 14:00 CET), so get on it!

[Free download] Goldroom - Till Sunrise (Justin Faust Premix)
More old friends and more free downloads! This time Justin Faust have remixed Goldroom's upocoming single Till Sunrise, featuring Mammals on vocals. Actually, remix isn't really the appropriate term, since Josh Goldroom has come up with a pretty neat idea. The single is out August 11, but since a week back the vocal stems have been available for anyone to make their own remix. Err, I mean premix. They can then be sent to Josh and he'll post the things he likes on his Soundcloud, which with over 80.000 followers is pretty decent exposure.
It's an interesting concept. Since no-one have heard the original yet, there's no way that the preconceptions of the it will shape the remixes. So, apart from the keys of the vocals and the rather slow tempo, expect some pretty different takes on it.
84 bpm isn't really Justin's standard tempo, but he's managed to make a really groovy electro funk slowdance of it.
Why not give it a go yourself? Here are the vocal stems!

[Premiere/free download]: PWNDTIAC & Douze - Nightvision
As usual our blogging pace slows down during the summer when I take a well-needed vacation from all the blogging I haven't been doing. We're all very thankful for Jonny who's left to fend for the blog on his own. But today I thought I'd kick off my 2014-15 season. We have a lot of things that we've liked during the summer, and some of it we'll try to give you even if it might be a little late. But of course we'll guide you through the current of new stuff that constantly washes over the internets.
SO, let's start with something brand new when we premier PWNDTIAC and Douze's collaboration "Nightvision". And by new I mean old, since this is a track that the guys made some time ago. It's also "old" in the sense that it has a lot of that classic synthwave sound that we used to listen to so much. And perhaps after a couple of years of deep house, we're ready for some sort of revival-revival? Download the track for free on PWNDTIAC's Facebook page!
One of the releases we've liked a lot (but didn't blog) is PWNDTIAC's catchy filter funk track "Hey Girl" that makes you think of greats like Shannon, Jellybean and the likes. Including a colaboration with Digitalfoxglove and remixes by Justin Faust and Douze.
"Hey Girl" also has an awesome video that really catches the mood of the track perfectly:

The Magician + Monitor 66 in Stockholm 17/5
Artist rendering of Stephen "The Magician" Fasano age 70
We don't always advertise events, but when we do, we want to plug our friends Loaded who have booked none other than disco nestor The Magician to Stockholm this Saturday, May 17. Backing up are disco starlets Monitor 66 apart from Loaded's own Pelle Höök and friends. The Magician has his own magic blend of the catchiness of nu disco and the deep grooviness of house music, and his latest remix of Bristolian Javeon's "Intoxicated" sums up his sound perfectly. "Intoxicated" remixes are suitably released on Sunday, May 18 on PMR.
Local boys Monitor 66 broke with that classic "Triscuits" on one of The Magician's iconic Magic Tapes (number 22 to be exact). It's still such a tune, even if they, like so many more have moved on to something more deep/UK house sounding.

FRXXMNT
We got an email the other day from this very interesting act from The Netherlands named FRXXMNT. Really good stuff they presented to us, we got hooked right away.
They had just released "Never Leave" for free when they emailed us and it was a really solid deep house pearl. So we dug deeper into their music over at SoundCloud and found three other as awesome tunes. Really nice music coming from FRXXMNT. If they continue to deliver quality music as this, they will soon get a bigger crowd. At least they are worth getting their music spread around the globe.
Fan this guys on their Facebook and get all of their tracks as free download. How sweet isn't that!

Bufi - Salvaje EP
Bufi's new EP "Salvaje" came out yesterday on the Discotexas label. Our buddies on Discotexas keep on releasing great stuff and now the time has come to the Mexican magic producer Bufi.
Bufi has been spoiling us the last couple of years with great dance tunes and his new EP isn't any exception. All three included tracks are future dance floor tunes, where I especially dig the head track "Salvaje", that's one bouncy and deep tune.
Buy the whole release over at Beatport.

[Free download] Kings of the Universe - To Where You Are
As you may have noticed, we post a lot of dance music here on Tracasseur. Usually dance tunes are only made to make people dance and not so much to make people philosophize over the state of the universe. So other than requests for the listener to move their body in some way, which usually are more or less thinly veiled sexual suggestions, focus is more on rhythm than the content of the lyrics.
But there are exceptions to this, both of course with specific songs, especially remixes of non-dance music, but also with certain sub-genres. If one of the feet of house music stands on funk and disco music which lyrics-wise are centered around dancing and sex, the other foot stands on soul and R'n'b which usually have deeper lyrics. And just like soul and R'n'b, especially the early house music had a lot of influences from gospel which is where many of the soul divas came from. So songs about spirituality, empowerment and awareness was nothing unusual in the early days.
House connoisseurs Kings of the Universe are of course very aware of this history, so it makes perfect sense that Loffe makes an old-school house track when dealing with a loss, even if it may seem as a bit of a heavy topic for a house tune. It's a powerful song, and you can tell that it means a lot for its writer. Great stuff as usual from the guys, but this time with an added dimension, and hopefully this song can add some strength to someone else going through something tough.

Moto Boy + Copycat
Swedish wonder-boy Moto Boy is back with some new music after a couple of years silence. Moto Boy, who got great recognition due to his wonderful voice along with his melancholic and romantic music. I'm glad that he's back with new good tunes and especially his second new single "Too Young To Know", that once again shows his great talent in making beautiful music.
The single was released earlier in March with three remixes, all of them good. But my biggest attention went to the remix by Copycat, another interesting Swede. His balearic nu disco remix adds another thing to the Moto Boy original that I like a lot.
The other two remixes by Niko Stoessl and CANVAS are also great pieces, take a listen over at Spotify. Buy the whole release over at iTunes and get ready for Moto Boy's upcoming album "Keep Your Darkness Secret" out March 26.

Bontan's new "Move On Out" is out now!
Nice new Solomun remix of Broken Bells
One of our fave producers Solomun has just given us a new remix of the American indie rock band Broken Bells, who released their second studio album in the end of January. I hold Broken Bells high as one of the most interesting bands after their first well acclaimed album "Broken Bells" from 2010.
This Solomun remix is a really nice one that take good care of the original "Holding on for Life", that was the first single from the new album released in November last year. The release date for this new remix is March 24 and along with this slower remix there will also be a Club Version, very interesting we say!
Funny fact also; Solomun has 354.000 followers on Facebook and exactly so do Broken Bells, how about that?!

Our beloved friend Marlene ∞ has done this new superb collaboration with another talented Swede named Ji Nilsson. They did it together to celebrate the International Women's Day, that was the other day. It's a beautiful piece of music about female friendship.
And it also comes with a video made by SIKOW.

Duke Dumont + Jonas Rathsman
A quickie, just to say that the remix EP of Duke Dumont's "I Got U" featuring Jax Jones will be released on March 16. The line-up includes some interesting names in Tensnake, MK and Jonas Rathsman. While we're slighly underwhelmed by the Tensnake remix, and the MK remix hasn't surfaced yet, Rathsman's is of his usual high standard. Even if it's a little faster and a little less deep than, say, "Feel What I Feel".
The original is great, and already out.
While I have to say that Tensnake's take is a solid but unspectacular piece of UK house.
The day before the release (Saturday the 15), Rathsman and Duke Dumont are playing at XOYO Loves in London together with great people like Waze & Odyssey, The Magician and Du Tonc. I'd try to get in even if tickets seem to be sold out.

Cavaliers of Fun - Camp COF EP
I'm joking of course. As we've written many times, even if we know that there are thousands reading what we write, we are still just a couple of guys who write a couple of lines about some music we happen to like at the moment. Sometimes we play that music to other people too, but it's not that we're these rock stars or important journalists or anything. So every time we meet someone we haven't met before who say that they read our blog, or we get nice mails or comments from fans, we really appreciate it. And if a band or producer or singer writes lyrics about us, we get really honoured and humbled too.
That's one reason that we like Cavalier of Fun's new tune "Anoraak, Pegase and RAC". It's about Ricco Vitali's nostalgic memories of listening to the great synthpop and nu disco movement around the turn of the decade and how that's still a point of reference and a source of inspiration even today. An homage to his histories as he describes it.
We have fond memories of those times too, as like Ricco sings, that kind of music "was seen on Tracasseur", especially during our earlier days, and getting mentioned together with Anoraak, Pegase and RAC is a great honour. Those were all guys that we read about on blogs like Valérie that Anoraak and Pegase were part of, and that we listened to and wrote about in our turn. So we thank Ricco for the perfect birthday gift of a nice shout-out and a trip down memory lane!
There's an air of nostalgia over the whole EP "Camp COF", which isn't that strange as it draws so much inspiration from the nu italo and nu disco movement that was very nostalgic to begin with. That said, the whole EP ranges between more introverted indie pop and rock influences and the catchier part of nu disco. While we have a soft spot for "Anoraak..." for obvious reasons, "Valey of Dreams" is a favourite.
"Camp COF" is out tomorrow on Holographic People, but the video of "Anoraak, Pegase and RAC" is already live.

Debut EP from Vinjette
Our friends of the duo Vinjette have finally made their own material. The last years they have made some really really good remixes on several great acts such as Karl X Johan, Julia Vero, Urban Cone, Last Lynx and The Federales. We have been waiting to hear some original stuff from them, and now they are here with their debut EP "Higher Self" and their first single "Yuno" that also comes with a video including a Fir-man, yep you read correct, a man made out of firs.
"Yuno" is a nice chillwave tune that I really dig and the other two tunes on the EP is as good and as chilled. A strong debut release from Vinjette! The other day there was a release party here in Stockholm for the EP that I unfortunately missed. But those who were there could here Vinjette play their EP live. For you who couldn't be there, get your hands on their EP on Monday, pre-order it here and until Monday play "Yuno" on repeat.

Marlene's official video for "Stay Awake"
Our beloved and extremely talented friend Marlene ∞ is back with her next single "Stay Awake". Today she revealed the official video directed by another friend of ours Sikow.
Last year Marlene got a hit with her debut single and 2014 will be her year, when she will hit the big masses. Her music is catchy and full of quality. With "Stay Awake" you can clearly hear her references within RnB and especially one of her biggest inspiration Rihanna. We really love this new single and in this track Marlene's voice is even better, if that were even possible?! This tune has already been mentioned by MTV as 1 of 5 must-hear-tracks-right-now. So, give your love to Marlene, the next big thing!

Lane 8 - The One EP
Anjunadeep has a lot cooking at the moment. Germany based American producer Lane 8 released his "The One EP" a couple of days ago. It contains two originals featuring Patrick Baker and Lucy Stone on vocals, and a remix by Austrian duo Klangkarussell. While all tracks are great, it's the original of the title track that is The One for me. Make-out deephouse at its finest.
Lane 8 also had a free download release on make-out house label number one, French Express, quite recently.

Max Elto - Daniel and the Taped Rai EP
So, of course I have to write about this tune, not only because the tune is called "Daniel" but more so; it's really good, and the EP it comes with is also worth listening to. I first heard "Backyard Animals" about a year back, and it has stuck with me ever since, and a few days back they released the video for "Daniel". We have the pleasure of knowing these guys, of course they're from Stockholm, Sweden, and Max Elto is definitely a name you are bound to hear more from and about.
They, being Tom and Alexander, have been working together since sometime in 2012 and they were actually featured on a David Guetta single, back in the day. Nothing you would read about on Tracasseur, but with this the "Taped Rai" EP and especially the tune "Daniel", they have at least for my part, found a place in both my heart and my playlist. We are looking forward to seeing and playing their next step, but until then, "Daniel" will be stuck on repeat – both at home and in the clubs.
Here's the official video for Daniel - Enjoy!

Arches - There's a Place
Our Belgian duo Arches are back with this new single "There's a Place" and it will be out on Columbia Records April 7. The duo consists of Seba aka Moonlight Matters and Jochen from Sound of Stereo, and as we've written before about these guys, is that with such a great combination of masterminds nothing can really go wrong. Putting out your debut single on Columbia is pretty not wrong for example.

Tobtok - Savannah
Building on the emotional last post about losing friends that are close, our friend Tobtok has something to celebrate: one year of being cancer-free. As we all know, or try to forget, tragedy could strike at any moment. Some will fall, and some will be left standing. That's why, as someone with a close one battling the big C, Tobtok's anniversary is so inspirational. We're thankful for his freebie gift to mark this celebration, and let's all look forward to many more celebration gifts to come from Tobias!
As a bonus, Tobtok's remix of the upcoming Years & Years single on Kitsuné premiered on awesome YouTube channel Majestic a couple of days ago.

Tomas Barfod: "Any day above ground is a good day"
Thanks to our fellow friend blog Golden Scissors I got the opportunity to hear the Danish producer Tomas Barfod's latest piece of art "Happy" featuring Eddie Chacon. This tune is about the friends that Tomas has lost during his only 35 years life. With that in mind this tune becomes even bigger. This is how Tomas himself describes the making of "Happy":
“The lyrics to Happy came about differently than any song I have written before. One day while driving in Los Angeles with my wife we were talking about a person’s natural disposition. She labeled me an eternal optimist. I thought about that for a second before I replied that this world is hard on artists. In my 35 year music career starting in the late 70′s in San Francisco and leading up until now that I had seen so many of my great musician friends slip away due to aids, drugs, car accidents, suicide and even santaria but that I had decided I was gonna be happy. My wife was moved by this and insisted I make a song out of it.
I’ve attended many funerals in my life and I always think the same thing: Any day above ground is a good day.”
The last sentence in this story is such a strong vision of how you should look at your life! It's not only of course just living YOLO, but it is a reminder to cherish every day and take care of the ones that you love and care about. Live and love!
"Happy" is taken from Tomas' upcoming EP "Pulsing" out next month on Secretly Canadian and in the beginning of January we could hear the title track for the EP featuring Swedish singer Nina Kinert. Pre-order the EP here.
Tomas and Nina made another piece of beauty two years ago in "November Skies".
The best remix that saw the light back then was the one by Jerome LOL.
With this post I want to say thank you to Golden Scissors for the finding but especially to Tomas Barfod for his talent in making brilliant tunes and for his vision of living his life. Big inspiration! Big love!

Kill Them With Colour remix
It was actually two years since we last wrote about the Toronto-based duo Kill Them With Colour. We were onto these guys in their early start when they were more into nu disco. Since then they have moved themselves towards house and made themselves a name and remixed tons of tunes and released an album. Kill Them With Colour have gone big!
Today I had to bring them back to Tracasseur with this bass house remix of the young rising future star Jonah McGowan. Sweet remix as usual from the Canadians and it comes as a free download.

Tracasseur Guest Tape #6: Kings of the Universe
Here's the last instalment of our "monthly mixtape thing" series called Tracasseur Guest Tapes. I already commented the "monthly" description when we posted the last one a little over a month ago. Of course you don't get rid of such a quippy byline, but I guess we could put the word monthly within quotation marks or something.
We have written about Stockholm duo and friends Kings of the Universe before. We really like their production of retro acid house, and I even put their Mercury remix on my Best of 2013 list. This mix is made by Funky Loffe (Mr. Givenchy tee) on a setup with two CDJ800s and two SL1200s, and basically is a collection of their favourite tracks of 2013. A KOTU Best of 2013 of sorts. Take it away Loffe!
Here's the tracklist:
Jamie O'Reilly - F*ck All Y'all (Funk Butcher Remix)
Henrik Bergqvist - Spin
Murat Tepeli - Forever (Prosumer's Hold Me Touch Me Remix)
James Johnston - What You Do To Me
SE62 - True Force
ItaloJohnson - Untitled B1 [ITJ07]
Serge & Tyrell - Pump-O-Matic
Leon Vynehall - Step Or Stone (Breath Or Bone)
George FitzGerald - Every Inch (Deetron Remix)
Jovonn - Garage Shelter (Tuff City Kids Remix)

Anoraak - Behind Your Shades (Cyclist Edit)
Good old Anoraak released "Chronotropic" late last year. Nice to have him back we thought. Today the EP "Behind Your Shades" was released on Grand Blanc. Cyclist has made a really nice edit included on the EP that should reach your ears. Buy the release over at iTunes.
The original tune is also a nice one.

Urulu - Play Something With Words EP
One of my early favourite of 2014, three weeks in, is released in a couple of weeks. Urulu's "Play Something With Words" EP (out on Manucci's Mistress) includes the incredibly soulful and funky garage track "Believer" that just gets me in such a great mood. Obviously, it includes three other good tracks, but it's "Believer" that is the stand out track. As a little bonus to add to the mystique, read Urulu's little short story about his encounter with Algorithm Man, that accompanied the promo material.
Pick up "Play Something With Words" over at Juno. Oh, and happy birthday Taylor!

Daroc & Joypopp
Our friend Daroc released a new track one month ago named "Volute Club". A really good one that have been stuck in a queue due to our best of lists. But finally it's time to post Daroc's new one during our waiting for his upcoming debut album, said to be released late 2014.
A while ago people didn't know that Daroc was the producer behind Joypopp. Now that's not a secret any more and we also like to present the latest Joypopp tune "D Day". Both this track and the Daroc track are on the compilation "Le Burgundy Paris L'album". You can buy the release over at iTunes.

New one from Years & Years
Nice new eargasm from Years & Years. They are back with a new EP "Real" out February 17 on Kitsuné.
Also check this remix on "Traps" from their latest EP by Armeria.

Pat Lok ft. Bear Mountain - Same Hearts
So, this happened today. Pat Lok released his new EP "Same Hearts". It's released on Holographic People and features, apart from lovely vocals from Bear Mountain, remixes by Oxford, Shelby Grey and Ride the Universe. My favourite of the remixes is the percussive 80's funk of Ride the Universe - glad to see the boys being in good form - but I still prefer the original which is available for free with a simple click on the like button on Pat's Facebook page.

[Free download] Dillon Francis + Chordashian
We still have some tidying away of 2013 to do, like in the last post, but here's the first track of 2014. NYC duo Chordashian has beefed up Dillon Francis' "Without You", featuring Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, into a deep club house track. Head over to Hypemachine to help the guys chart, why dontcha! I mean, it's the least you can do since they're giving it away for free on their Facebook page.
Passerine + GLOVES
So, I've had this track from back in November on repeat the last couple of days. Our old friend GLOVES has made a very nice housey nu disco remix of Passerine's "Paris Morning". Nice groove and thundering bass aside, what really sets it alight is the wonderful harmonies of those chords.
The original R'n'B dub is a nice song too.
